Potato Adai

This dish can be a great snack at tea time or can be served for breakfast.

 

Ingredients:

1.)     Potatoes : 500gms

2.)     Besan (Bengal Gram flour) : ½ cup

3.)     Green chilies : 4 chopped

4.)     Coriander leaves (Cilantro) : ¼ cup chopped

5.)     Onions : 3 small (or 1 ½ large) sized chopped finely

6.)     Ginger : ½ inch piece

7.)     Oil : ½ cup

8.)     Asafoetida : a pinch

9.)     Salt to taste

 

Method:

Peel potatoes. Cut into thin small pieces and wash well. Blend/grind potatoes, chilies, ginger and salt to a paste. Now add in the onions, cilantro and asafoetida. Mix well. Add the gram flour into the potato mixture. Add a little water if needed (should be the consistency of a thick batter).

Heat frying pan and brush with oil. Pour about 4 tablespoon batter over. Drizzle with a little oil. When brown on one side turn it over. Drizzle with little oil if needed.

Serve with chutney or ketchup.
